Kid Katana Records teamed with Quantic Dream and Parallel Studio to release Under the Waves OST composed by Nicolas Bredin, a first of its kind product!

This double LP is a 21-track piece of art influenced by Icelandic composers (Valgeir Sigurdsson and Ólafur Arnalds), and post-rock bands (Mogwai, Sigur Ros, Radiohead). Standing as a profound embodiment of the game’s narrative, it also resonates with the game’s partnership with Surfrider Foundation Europe to raise awareness on plastic pollution and its devastating impact on our oceans.
That's why we had to find the most eco-friendly solution to release a physical edition: these vinyls will be manufactured through the brand new Biovinyl process — which means without using any plastic — and a specific work was conducted on all the other aspects of the product to make it as sustainable as possible:

Plastic-free disc production: Under the Waves OST vinyl is the first of its kind to be manufactured without the use of any plastic, as all petroleum in S-PVC is replaced by recycling used cooking oil or industrial waste gasses. The ISCC PLUS certification obtained by the manufacturer even guarantees a sustainable supply chain. Plus this vinyl comes in a nice transparent green color.

Eco-friendly packaging: this 2xLP gatefold packaging is made of 100% recycled paper and cardboard, and printed with sustainable inks made from plant oils

Eco-friendly design: we set up a minimalist approach throughout the whole design to save the use of paper and ink: no printed booklet, no large plain-colored full-surfaces, only 1 color used (more visuals to come!)

High-quality audio: while focusing on sustainability, there is absolutely no compromise on the quality of the music which has been tested and approved before manufacturing.

Inspired by the music of one of the most iconic pop culture licenses of all time, main composition was assigned to Tee Lopes, the talent behind the music of Sonic Mania and Streets of Rage 4: Mr X’s Nightmare. His musical vision echoes the spirit of the turtles and this specific game specificities: tributes to classic TMNT tunes with a good dose of fun and switching fluidly between 80s/90s electro, funk, rock, and jazzy tunes with chiptune vibes.

On top of that, prestigious guests were added to the line-up. We’re proud to host legends such as Raekwon The Chef and Ghostface Killah from the legendary rap band Wu-Tang Clan, and Mike Patton, frontman of Faith No More and Mr Bungle. They all performed exclusive tracks recorded specifically for the game and the OST.

For this limited edition, Kid Katana Records teamed up with illustrator Zombie Yeti, a recognized official TMNT artist with a very distinctive hand-drawn style. His colorful, punchy and playful touch really goes well with the game’s spirit. The result is an exclusive mise en abîme, with Shredder fighting against the turtles to steal the record itself!
